China has proposed adding 12 photovoltaic technologies to its export-control list, including polysilicon, silicon-wafer and advanced solar-cell manufacturing, with perovskite and tandem cell technologies facing outright export bans while TOPCon, HJT and back-contact technologies face restrictions. Tesla closed 2% lower on Friday and Canadian Solar fell more than 7%. A March Reuters report said Tesla had been in talks to buy about $2.9 billion of Chinese solar manufacturing equipment, and it plans to add 100 GW of US solar capacity by 2028. Canadian Solar's Indiana HJT cell plant, with a first phase of 2.1 GW, is particularly exposed, though Beijing says only technologies meeting specific thresholds are covered. TSLA is down 21% year-to-date and CSIQ is down 59%.
