  • Wall Street Loves This Corner of the Stock Market As AI Trade Falters

Financial markets have been volatile, and many Wall Street analysts are urging investors to shift toward quality stocks, meaning companies with long records of earnings growth, durable competitive advantages, low debt and proven management. Sticky inflation, government borrowing and heavy spending on AI infrastructure have pushed rates higher, hitting AI-linked chip and cloud stocks over the past few weeks. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and Piper Sandler all highlight the quality factor, and Morgan Stanley notes that when earnings revisions breadth is at its current top-range level, high-quality stocks have outperformed low-quality ones by about 8% over the following 12 months on average. Some managers, such as AllianceBernstein's James Russo, are pivoting hard into quality while keeping large hyperscalers and chip stocks with durable advantages.
