  • Alnylam Is Now Solidly Profitable. Why Are Investors Treating It Like a Broken Biotech?

Alnylam shares have fallen more than 40% year to date, even though the company is now solidly profitable, with Q2 2026 GAAP net income of $164.5 million and revenue up 67% to $1.29 billion. The author attributes much of the selloff to two concerns: Alnylam cut its 2026 revenue guidance for Amvuttra and Onpattra to $4.2–4.5 billion from $4.4–4.7 billion as demand normalized after an initial surge of patients switching to Amvuttra, and disappointing Phase 3 results for Wainua in ATTR-CM raised worries about Alnylam's nucresiran. The author argues both concerns are overstated, since the two drugs use different mechanisms and Amvuttra sales continue to grow robustly. Of the 23 analysts who rated the stock over the past three months, 19 recommended buying, and the average 12-month price target implies 54% upside.
