Hobbyists are booting Apple's iOS on Android phones just to prove it can be done, and an iOS 16 clip on a Redmi Note 12 has passed 2 million views on X. The open-source ios-sweet project combines Apple's XNU kernel, patched for the Snapdragon 732G in a Redmi Note 10 Pro, with unmodified iOS 16.7.16 files. Its developers call it an experimental bring-up, not a usable phone OS: the lock screen, home screen, Control Center and Settings load, but Wi-Fi, mobile data, audio and the camera do not work, and the screen is drawn at roughly 20 to 30 frames per second. A separate group, OOSexGang, says its HackiOS build runs iOS 16.5 on a Poco X5 Pro, though no public source code or independent verification has been provided. Installing the build wipes the phone's Android user data and leaves security protections mostly switched off.
