Foxconn hopes to own 50% of the global AI server market within a couple years

Chairman Young Liu of Hon Hai (Foxconn) told CNBC the company could raise its share of the global AI server market from around 40% today to 50% within a couple of years, and to about 45% next year. He expects AI infrastructure to make up 60% to 65% of Foxconn's revenue over the next three to five years, excluding edge AI devices. Production capacity is already fully booked for at least the next year and a half, with current demand coming mainly from AI model developers and cloud providers. Foxconn plans to expand U.S. manufacturing, starting with higher-margin products such as AI server racks and data center equipment, because U.S. production costs are higher. Liu warned that "overinvestment will kill the company" and said AI spending could exceed the planned $3 billion to $5 billion a year, depending on how far vertical integration goes.

  • Apple Reportedly Increases iPhone Duo Production Orders by 30% Following Launch Demand

Apple has reportedly asked suppliers to increase iPhone Duo orders by 30% after demand exceeded initial stock, according to a Monday report by Taiwan's Economic Daily citing industry sources. The foldable device went on sale globally on Friday and reportedly sold out almost immediately, with the next round of shipments not expected to begin until 22 January. Estimated shipments for this year have reportedly risen from about 6 million units to between 8 million and 10 million, and the report projects 33 million units by 2027, though that is a projection rather than a confirmed target. Foxconn assembles the device and TSMC makes its main processor, and the iPhone Duo is priced well above comparable foldables from Samsung and Google. The report did not disclose the size of the initial inventory, so the sell-out does not reveal total purchase volume.

  • Paraguay Joins Pax Silica , the US AI Supply Chain Pact

On 23 October, Paraguay became the 26th signatory of the US-led Pax Silica declaration, a pact to build AI and chip supply chains among trusted partners. Washington and Asunción pledged to use Paraguay's critical minerals and hydropower for AI infrastructure, tying the small ally to the US effort to reduce dependence on China. A separate 15-year power contract signed on 22 October covers up to 286 megawatts for an AI data centre at US$48.91 to US$56.39 per megawatt hour. No projects, deadlines, investments or companies have been named, and the declaration is a statement of intent rather than a treaty. The first 6 megawatts of data centre power are due on 1 December.

  • Make or Break for VRT on Oct. 28: Proving the ‘AI Factory’ Thesis Amid a Brutal Valuation Reset.

Vertiv (VRT) reports third-quarter results on Oct. 28, with the stock down 39% from its recent peak despite five straight EPS beats and a 21.89% drop over the past month to $194.31. In the second quarter, adjusted EPS rose 60% to $1.52 and revenue climbed 24.1% to $3.27 billion, but organic growth slowed to 18%, which management attributed to supply chain congestion and the timing of phased projects. Management raised full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $6.65 to $6.75, and guidance calls for organic growth of about 35%, while consensus EPS stands just above the $1.80 guidance midpoint. The key questions are whether delayed AI projects have shipped and whether new capacity came online on schedule, with 2027 orders also seen as critical. The article argues that if shipment timing shifts again, the valuation reset could keep going.

  • AI's billion-dollar question: When will the spending pay off?

Speakers in this discussion argue AI infrastructure spending faces a timing gap, since months can pass between when computing hardware ships and when it starts earning revenue, leaving a large amount of capital tied up. As an example, a buyer of $10 million in Nvidia chips may need six months to get them running while that money sits on its balance sheet. They also point to a wider gap between total AI spending and the revenue it generates, and note that some reports suggest the size of returns may depend on technological innovation. Easing supply chain bottlenecks, they say, would help companies bring computing capacity online faster.

  • Nvidia announces plug and play Vera Rubin racks that can be shipped on a truck

Nvidia announced the DSX Pod AI Factory, which puts seven Vera Rubin AI racks into a unit roughly the size of a standard shipping container and weighing about 28,000 kilograms. It is designed to be trucked on normal roads, with cabling and liquid cooling assembled at the factory so that on-site work is limited to placing, connecting and validating the units. Nvidia says this cuts the time for a new AI data center to start serving tokens from six months to 14 days. No price was disclosed, though analysts say a single Vera Rubin rack can cost over $7 million. The pod is a reference design built by partners including Foxconn, Gigabyte, Lenovo, HPE, Quanta and Pegatron, with deliveries expected in early 2027.

  • Why are many countries advising people to prepare 'survival food'?

Reports say at least 33 countries have issued guidance urging households to stockpile food, water and essentials against risks such as geopolitical tensions, extreme weather, power outages and cyberattacks. Stockpile periods vary: France and the UK cite 72 hours, Canada, Japan, Mexico and the Netherlands three days, Sweden and Norway up to one week, and Germany up to 10 days. Thailand's DDPM asked families on 2/11 to keep enough for the first 72 hours after a disaster, while the Pentagon's FORTRESS program aims to let military bases operate independently for up to 90 days, a military initiative rather than public advice. Experts note these are precautionary measures and do not signal forecasts of war or an imminent major disaster.

  • Morning Minute: Tom Lee Calls the Binance Hack Bullish for Ethereum

Tom Lee, head of BitMine Immersion, called the market's reaction to the $6.3 billion Binance hack, the largest crypto theft on record, “constructive.” He cited four factors: Binance covered the loss from its own balance sheet, Tether and Circle froze the stolen stablecoins within hours, no DeFi protocol collapsed, and investigators quickly attributed the attack to North Korea. ETH fell about 4% after the hack, compared with an 8% drop on day one and 20% over the following week after the February 2025 Bybit hack. BitMine holds 6,060,506 ETH, or 4.9% of circulating supply, and is 99% of the way to its 5% cap, about 49,500 ETH short. With this large weekly corporate buyer nearly finished, the article asks what ETH demand will look like without it.

  • SCB cuts daily fast-transfer limit to 20 million VND

SCB has cut the daily Napas 247 fast-transfer limit for individual customers to a maximum of 20 million VND on Mobile and Internet Banking, effective from late 30/10, to strengthen transaction security and curb fraud and account takeovers. Customers needing to transfer above that cap are directed to branches or transaction offices, while many banks apply standard online transfer limits of 200 to 400 million VND per day. This is not the first change: the limit was 100 million VND at the end of 2024 and at one point fell to just 10 million VND. The bank had entered special control in October 2022 and, after closing many branches, had only 10 transaction points nationwide by mid-October this year. Savings rates for most terms are now below 1% a year, while new 12-month and 13-month deposits pay 3.7% and 8.7% a year respectively.

  • How Investors May Respond To Alphabet Stock Euro Bond Sale

Alphabet has completed several euro and US dollar bond issues, including 5.250% notes due 2045 worth €995.75 million and 4.05% notes due 2030 worth €1.249688 billion, plus floating-rate euro notes, to help fund heavy AI infrastructure and data center spending. The article says this mix spreads funding risk across currencies, maturities and investor bases, while free cash flow turned negative as AI spending ramped. In the third quarter of 2026, sales reached US$127.6b and quarterly net income fell year on year, while Google Cloud revenue more than doubled and the AI-weighted backlog stood at US$514b. For analyst price targets to line up, Alphabet would need to trade on a 26.9x P/E on projected 2029 earnings, versus 14.8x today, with profit margins modeled to fall from 49.9% to 29.4%.
