- EIP-7702 didn’t cause Binance hack, but may have amplified losses
Blockaid says compromised signing systems likely enabled Binance's $6.3 billion hack, the largest in crypto history, while the Ethereum EIP-7702 upgrade may have helped attackers bypass security checks by consolidating the theft into one sweep. Attackers could have stolen the funds without the upgrade, according to Blockaid's CEO Ido Ben-Natan, who suspects a compromised developer computer gave access to Binance's wallet-signing infrastructure. Binance confirmed the hack and pledged to cover all losses, first suspecting an engineer's laptop before uncovering more breach points, while CEO Richard Teng said investigators found no evidence that private keys leaked. EIP-7702, introduced in May 2025 with the Pectra upgrade, had drawn earlier security concerns over malicious delegations that drained wallets in May and September 2025. Ambire's Ivo Georgiev said the upgrade made little difference but warned that engineers might overlook revoking a malicious delegation after regaining control.
- Morning Minute: Binance’s $6.4B Hack Overshadows Hyperliquid’s Biggest Day
An attacker stole about $6.4 billion from Binance, by a wide margin the largest crypto theft on record and roughly four times the $1.5 billion taken from Bybit in February 2025. The funds moved across three blockchains: about $3.5 billion in ETH, $1.4 billion in BTC and $630 million on Tron, with final accounting still underway. Tether and Circle froze about $2.39 billion of the stolen tokens (43% of the haul), while Aave froze its V3 and V4 markets on Ethereum to guard against bad debt. Binance said it has reserved over $6.34 billion in company funds to cover losses, and ZachXBT said the funds were commingled with the $388 million Bitget exploit and believes the same North Korean hacker group was behind both. Markets fell on the day, with over $1.33 billion in positions liquidated, after HYPE had surged on news that Intercontinental Exchange is investing in trade.xyz.
- TRM and Chainalysis Tie $6.4B Binance Hack to North Korea's TraderTraitor
TRM Labs and Chainalysis have both attributed the Binance hack to TraderTraitor, the North Korean group the FBI blamed for the $1.5 billion Bybit hack. TRM put the theft at about $6.36 billion, moved from Binance wallets on 10 blockchains mostly within about 20 minutes from 4:05 p.m. ET on Thursday, while Chainalysis put it at about $6.4 billion and saw stolen funds mixing with proceeds of the Bitget exploit. The attacker holds more than 420,000 ETH and 18,270 BTC, about $2.4 billion beyond any issuer's reach, while issuers including Tether and Circle have frozen about $2.67 billion in stablecoins. Binance has reserved more than $6.34 billion of company funds to cover losses, $5 billion of it already held in the stolen tokens.

- Binance hacker's Bitcoin haul tops Coinbase's corporate treasury
The attackers behind the $6.3 billion Binance hack now hold 18,270 BTC, worth about $1.4 billion according to Bitquery, which exceeds the 18,071 BTC Coinbase reported as of late September (17,954 BTC for investment and 117 BTC for operations). They also hold 508,621 ETH, more than the 495,362 ETH that BitcoinTreasuries.net attributes to The Ether Machine. Bitquery said the attackers initially stole 200,630 ETH and accumulated the rest by swapping stolen stablecoins and other tokens. Binance confirmed the hack, said about $3 billion in stolen assets had been frozen, and pledged to cover all losses. TRM Labs attributed the attack to North Korea's TraderTraitor group.

- Midterms and Your Retirement: What's Really at Stake?
American Independence Gold, a veteran-owned precious-metals company, urges retirees and those nearing retirement to review their savings before the midterm elections and to assess whether gold and silver serve a clear purpose in their plan. It cites an October 22, 2026 World Gold Council report saying U.S. election results have had no consistent effect on gold prices, while later policies and global demand can matter more. CNBC reports China imported more than 1,000 tonnes of gold in the first eight months of 2026, versus 886 tonnes in all of 2025, and its central bank has bought gold for 23 consecutive months. The article suggests reviewing which assets could lose value and how expenses would be covered, avoiding concentrating retirement savings in one asset, and notes that higher U.S. yields can weigh on gold and tax benefits do not eliminate investment risk.
- Why Nebius Stock Fell 26% in a Month, and What It Means for Investors
Nebius Group (NBIS) shares have lost roughly a quarter of their value in a month, as investors question whether specialized AI cloud providers, or neoclouds, can earn attractive returns on the heavy spending needed to expand data centers. The article says this is not a prediction that Nebius will fail, but the company must show its advantages are durable enough to justify the resources it commits. Gartner has warned that more than 80% of neocloud providers may no longer operate independently by 2030, intensifying concerns about competition and consolidation. Nebius must fund infrastructure before generating revenue, and both borrowing and new share issuance carry costs, with CoreWeave's bond yields rising to almost 15%. Key indicators to watch include revenue growth and customer commitments, capital spending and dilution, and the payback period of new contracts, which management has said could be under two years.
- Nvidia Facing Questions As Suspected Chinese Intelligence Asset Got Close to Jensen Huang
A report citing anonymous US officials says intelligence agencies concluded that Alice Huang (also known as Huang Le), a senior executive at Megaspeed, was gathering information for Beijing and built a close relationship with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, though no charges have been reported and the report does not accuse Jensen Huang of wrongdoing. NVIDIA says the CEO's interactions with her are normal for his job, and that earlier allegations about Megaspeed were thoroughly investigated and debunked. Direct revenue exposure looks small, since NVIDIA's guidance of $108.0 billion, plus or minus 2%, for the third quarter of fiscal 2027 already excludes China data center compute revenue. The political risk is larger, with Sen. Elizabeth Warren calling for answers from Jensen Huang and NVIDIA's board, while the Justice Department is asking antitrust questions about the planned Hugging Face acquisition. The shares closed at $213.66 on October 29, down 0.8%, for a market value of $5.16 trillion.
- Swiss central bank posts bumper $23bn profit as gold, foreign assets soar
The Swiss National Bank reported a third-quarter investment profit of 19.1 billion Swiss francs ($23.3 billion), driven mainly by its gold and foreign currency holdings, lifting its year-to-date profit to 44.2 billion francs, or about $53.8 billion. Still, third-quarter profit fell almost 32% year on year, and foreign currency profit of 11.6 billion francs was down around 15%. At the end of the quarter, 61% of its foreign currency reserves were in government bonds, 28% in equities and 11% in other bonds, with 39% denominated in euros and 37% in U.S. dollars. The SNB's equity portfolio is passively managed against a benchmark index, and the bank states that its goal is not to generate profit but to ensure price stability, with an inflation target of 0% to 2%. Its profits are mostly distributed to Swiss federal and local governments, and a payout is possible at year-end.
- AMZN Analysts Split After Earnings: TD Cowen Says Amazon Selloff Is ‘Overdone,’ Mizuho Raises Target
After third-quarter results, analysts offered split views on Amazon (AMZN), whose shares fell 6.3% in premarket trading. TD Cowen cut its target to $340 from $350 but kept a Buy rating, calling the post-earnings selloff “overdone” as revenue beat expectations on AWS strength. Mizuho raised its target to $335 from $330 while saying AWS was slightly softer than expected, and UBS lifted its target to $352 from $348, citing AWS growth above 40% in fiscal 2027 and 2028 and a $578 billion backlog. Baird lowered its target to $300 from $310 and saw the pullback as an opportunity, while BofA cut its target to $317 from $320 as AWS growth of 39% fell short of investor expectations that were as high as 42%. Of 60 analysts covering the stock, 42 rate it Buy and 16 rate it Strong Buy, with an average 12-month target of $332.41.
- PNJ's Inventory Rises to Over VND 16,600 Billion
As of the end of September, PNJ's net inventory stood at over VND 16,626 billion, or nearly 83% of total assets, after a wave of product returns, with markdown provisions of nearly VND 2,229 billion. Most of the provisions relate to diamond jewelry and loose diamonds, and CEO Phan Quốc Công said liquidating the stock will take considerable time given weak market purchasing power. In the third quarter, net revenue fell 14% to nearly VND 6,995 billion and the company posted an after-tax loss of nearly VND 258 billion, versus a profit of nearly VND 496 billion a year earlier. Gross margin narrowed from 19.8% to 8.7%, and VND 5,111 billion of inventory was pledged as collateral for short-term bank loans, up nearly 29% from the end of last year. Management attributed the weak results to unusual gold price swings and changes in revenue mix.
