  • VinFast CEO Phạm Nhật Quân Anh speaks out for first time on sale of 2 Vietnam factories

In his first exchange with analysts since taking over as CEO last month, Phạm Nhật Quân Anh said VinFast sold 70,085 electric vehicles in Q2 2026, bringing first-half sales to 43% of its 300,000-vehicle target for the full year. The company plans to launch more models, invest in autonomous driving technology and expand into more markets, including with affiliated taxi company Green SM. Vietnam accounted for 89% of its Q2 EV sales, while the Philippines, Indonesia and India are the key overseas markets, with the Americas and Europe under review. As part of its restructuring, VinFast sold two major factories and transferred 7 billion USD of debt to investors linked to Phạm Nhật Vượng and Vingroup, but said vehicles will still be produced under long-term manufacturing agreements. It also plans to launch its first gasoline-assisted EV, while the VF Wild REEV, its first range-extended EV, is the latest model.

  • Netflix Is Shaking Up Its Content Leadership. Here's What Needs to Happen Next.

Netflix has fired its content chief and several top executives while cutting 1,000 jobs, its largest reduction and shake-up since 2022. The author argues the core problem is declining engagement rather than finances: hours watched per subscriber are down 4% year over year, and viewing of the top 100 originals has fallen 20%. Despite pushing live events, podcasts and gaming, the author says these efforts have not worked well and that Netflix should focus on a few well-made movies and shows. The author notes Netflix shares have dropped nearly 50% over the past year, which could present an opportunity for long-term investors before the new content leadership puts its ideas to work in 2027.

  • Highland tycoon's stock keeps hitting the ceiling with no sellers left

Quoc Cuong Gia Lai (QCG) has pushed its market capitalization above 3,000 billion VND after two consecutive ceiling-price sessions; on Oct. 15 the stock hit the 11,000 VND limit, its highest in over a month, with no sellers and ceiling buy orders in the hundreds of thousands. The rally followed Nguyen Thi Nhu Loan's return as CEO, replacing Nguyen Quoc Cuong, after an appellate verdict deemed her sentence already served. In the first half of 2026, revenue fell to about 80 billion VND, roughly a third of the prior-year level, but after-tax profit of over 181 billion VND (18 times higher) came mainly from liquidating and selling a hydropower plant. Revenue remains far below the 2,403 billion VND full-year plan, and Cuong acknowledged that results have not met shareholder expectations, while management called 2026–2028 a pivotal restructuring period.
