Nearly 90% of large businesses are embracing tokenized cash to speed up payments: DBS

A DBS-commissioned EY survey of 422 finance leaders at companies with annual revenue above $500 million across 11 markets found that 88% are using or piloting tokenized money. Of these, 24% have deployed it at scale, 43% have limited live use in selected markets, and 21% are running pilots or proofs of concept. Stablecoins are the most used or planned instrument at 63%, ahead of tokenized deposits at 53% and tokenized money market funds at 52%. Respondents expect benefits in real-time cross-border payments (71%) and treasury liquidity management (65%), while regulatory uncertainty, security risks and integration difficulties remain obstacles. DBS launched DBS Token Services in 2024, and in September it completed a weekend dollar payment with Citi between Singapore and New York that settled in minutes.

  • Crypto for Advisors: Stablecoins are ready for prime time

CoinDesk's Crypto for Advisors newsletter cites an EY-Parthenon 2026 Blockchain Payments Survey of 521 corporate and financial institution decision-makers. It found 18% of corporates have used stablecoins in production, double the 2025 share, while 15% report adopting tokenized deposits. Some 69% of financial institutions offer or plan to launch stablecoin services within two years, up from 30% in 2025. Cross-border business payments are the leading use case, and 45% of corporates and 53% of financial institutions favor using both stablecoins and tokenized deposits. Corporates strongly prefer blockchain payments integrated into existing banking interfaces (74%), and 63% would likely adopt them if offered by their current bank or payments provider.

  • Prediction: XRP (Ripple) Will be Worth This Much in 12 Months

The author predicts XRP will fall further and trade below $1 within the next 12 months. Banks can use XRP as a bridge currency to send money across borders on the XRP Ledger, with near-instant settlement and minimal costs. Yet the token is down 64% from its record high of $3.65 per token, and Ripple has launched Ripple USD, a U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoin, since late 2024, reducing XRP's central role. The author argues XRP's rallies were mostly driven by speculators, so each surge was followed by a sharp crash, such as the 2018 rise above $3 that was followed by a loss of over 95% of value and a bottom near $0.14 in 2020.

  • Intel, Oracle, IBM Join Objections to OKX-ICE Tokenized Stock Venue, Bringing Total to 26

Intel, Oracle, IBM and IonQ have joined the companies objecting to trading of their shares on OKXICE TSV, according to a notice dated Oct. 26. The number of objecting issuers has risen from the count on Oct. 15 to 26, up from 22 in the Oct. 23 notice, though the notices do not explain the objections or their effect. The planned platform, a 50-50 joint venture between Intercontinental Exchange (owner of NYSE) and OKX's U.S. holding company, would let approved users trade tokenized U.S. stocks 24/7 on permissioned Uniswap v4 pools, paired with stablecoins such as USDC. The notice flags a key risk: if the tokenizer's broker-dealer failed, it is uncertain whether tokenized shares in self-custodied wallets would be protected by SIPC.

  • Citrini sees a tokenization boom. The harder question is who profits

Citrini Research, known for tech, AI and market analysis rather than crypto, argues in a 79-page report titled “Breaking the Wall” that tokenization could move stocks, bonds, credit and commodities onto blockchains and give crypto a clear purpose. Stablecoins, wallets, DeFi protocols, retail platforms such as Robinhood (HOOD) and Coinbase (COIN), and a clearer regulatory path for tokenized securities are all converging to support this shift. The article's main question, however, is who earns the revenue. Arthur Hayes said simply recording an existing security on a blockchain may not create much value, calling it “better bookkeeping,” while Christian Magoon of Amplify ETFs sees infrastructure providers and distributors as potential winners. Jeff Dorman of Arca expects issuance to become commoditized, with stickier economics coming from trading, lending and collateral use, and names Securitize (SECZ), Hyperliquid, Aave and Aerodrome (AERO) as possible beneficiaries.

  • CONNECT recap: Liquidity is tokenization’s next challenge, everyday stablecoins

Cointelegraph's CONNECT event in Singapore held four panels on tokenization, stablecoin payments, onchain trading and venture capital exits. GSR's chief revenue officer Alex Taaffe said the supply of tokenized real-world assets far outpaces investor demand, though liquidity has improved for pre-IPO stocks, commodities and global equities. Panelists said liquidity remains fragmented across issuers and blockchains, and that measuring how much liquidity exists onchain is difficult. On payments, speakers argued stablecoins must become easy enough for everyday spending, while regulatory rules differ by jurisdiction. Stablecoin market capitalization stood at $306 billion, up about 2% year over year after growing roughly 74% in the previous 12 months.

  • How Anthropic's IPO structure could become the AI blueprint

Alex Morris, CEO and CIO of F/m Investments, discussed with Yahoo Finance's Brooke DiPalma what Anthropic's IPO could mean for the broader AI landscape. He said the company's revenue is not where a multi-trillion-dollar company would be expected, but it is selling a promise of the future, and its filing discusses potential existential risks to humanity. Wall Street will focus on the new governance structure, in which seven people would have power to largely control and appoint the board of trustees, a setup he called novel despite Google's different voting rights. He also flagged financing risk, more for Nvidia than Meta, as Meta announced a $100 billion share sale to fund AI. He said Anthropic is very likely to be substantially oversubscribed.

  • US warns of possible military action against Iran after Nov. 3

According to the Wall Street Journal, the US has told some Gulf Arab states to prepare for a short, intense military campaign after the midterm elections, and the Pentagon is evacuating US personnel from Middle East bases where they could be at risk. President Donald Trump has not made a final decision but is leaning toward a large-scale strike that could target Iran's infrastructure and nuclear facilities. Meanwhile, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei called for meeting Iran's conditions to end the war and the state of “no war, no peace,” and discussed with Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei maintaining control of the Strait of Hormuz. The US and Israel attacked Iran from Feb. 28; after a June ceasefire memorandum, the US resumed large-scale strikes on the night of July 8, accusing Tehran of violating the Hormuz terms. The strait carries about 25% of global oil and about 20% of global LNG.

  • Dissent and more: 3 things to watch for at the Fed meeting

The Fed will announce its rate decision at 2 p.m. ET, with Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference half an hour later. The FOMC is expected to hold the benchmark rate at 3.75%–4%; if three or more voting members favored a hike, it would signal growing urgency to tighten, potentially bolstering the Dollar Index and weighing on bitcoin. The 10-year Treasury yield has fallen to 5%, down 36 basis points since Oct. 7, easing financial conditions. Consumer price inflation has exceeded expectations for two straight months, oil remains near $100, and U.S. diesel prices are at record highs, so Warsh's comments on inflation will be closely watched. Bitcoin was trading at $81,411, up more than 2% over 24 hours, ahead of the meeting.

  • XRP Ledger developers propose creating wallets with zero XRP for stablecoin payments

XRP Ledger developers are testing a SponsoredAccountCreate transaction, submitted Oct. 15, that lets an existing account create a new account and cover its reserve, so new wallets can hold zero XRP. Each account currently must lock a minimum of 1 XRP, so a company creating 100,000 accounts would need 100,000 XRP; under the proposal, the sponsor would pay this reserve without controlling users' private keys and could also cover transaction fees. The change would support Ripple's embedded wallets built with Stripe-owned Privy for XRP and RLUSD payments, including AI-agent payments, which currently need XRP funding to become active. The code remains under review with two unresolved automated findings and depends on a sponsorship amendment that had secured 11 of the 29 validator votes required as of Oct. 19.

  • 'We'll be out of business': Jensen Huang bet his last dollars on a chip he never held in his hands — and it saved Nvidia

In 1997, with about six months of cash left, Nvidia ordered mass production of the RIVA 128 graphics chip, which had never existed physically and had been tested only in an emulator. To get that tool, the company bought the inventory of a struggling emulator seller with about half of its remaining cash, and it laid off more than half its staff, cutting headcount from about 100 to 40, while receiving a $5 million investment from Sega. The chip shipped in August 1997 supporting only eight of Microsoft DirectX's 32 blend modes, and sold roughly a million units in its first four months, paving the way for the 1999 IPO. Nvidia was worth about $1.1 trillion when the Acquired podcast was recorded in 2023 and is now around $5.3 trillion. The stock has risen about 880% over five years, versus about 70% for the S&P 500, but shares slipped slightly after an 85% year-over-year revenue jump in its fiscal first-quarter 2027 earnings.
